I, Wynter Thomas Blathwayt Rector of Dyrham in the County of Gloucester and Dicese of Bristol do hereby certify that by virtue of the within written mandate I have inducted the within named Maxwell Homfray Smith into the real, actual and corporal possession of the Vicarage of Colerne [.....].
As witness my hand this sixteenth day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and ninety eight.

Whereas the Right Reverend Father in God George Forrest by Divine permission Lord Bishop of the Diocese of Bristol hath duly admitted and instituted Maxwell Homfray Smith Clerk BA to the Vicarage of the Parish Church of Colerne in the County of Wilts, and within his Lordship's Diocese and Jurisdiction, vacant by the resignation of John Joseph Strutt Bird the last incumbent there, to which he is presented to the said Lord Bishop by the Warden of New College Oxford the true and undoubted Patron thereof in full right as it is asserted and commanded us to induct or cause to be inducted the said Maxwell Homfray Smith or his lawful Proctor in his name and for him, into the real, actual, and corporal possession of the said Vicarage and Parish Church of Colerne [....].
We do therefore hereby authorise and require you jointly or severally to induct the said Maxwell Homfray Smith or his lawful Proctor in his name and for him, into the real, actual and corporal possession of the Vicarage and Parish Church of Colerne [....].
Given under the seal of our office, this sixteenth day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and ninety eight.
