Charles John by Divine permission Bishop of Gloucester and Bristol To our Beloved in Christ Maxwell Homfray Smith Clerk BA Greeting. We by these presents give and grant unto you [...] our License and Authority to perform the office of Stipendiary Curate in the Church of Pucklechurch and Abson in the County of Gloucester within our Diocese and Jurisdiction, to which you have been nominated to us by the Reverend Sidney George Gillum, Vicar of Pucklechurch and Abson aforesaid.

And we do by these Presents assign unto you the yearly Stipend of One hundred pounds to be paid Quarterly for serving the said Cure And we require you to reside in the parish of Pucklechurch aforesaid.

in witness whereof, We have caused our Seal to be hereto affixed. Dated 21st day of December in the Year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and ninety five and in the thirty third Year of our Consecration.
