Maxwell-Gumbleton papers: Purchase of Twyning Fee Farm Rent

Conveyance of the Fee Farm Rent secured on Twyning Manor Gloucester

This indenture made the twenty third day of December One thousand nine hundred and twenty between The Right Honourable Giles Stephen Holland Earl of Ilchester (hereinafter called 'the Vendor') of the one part and the Right Reverend Maxwell Homfray Maxwell Gumbleton DD Lord Bishop of Ballarat of Twyning Manor in the County of Gloucester (hereinafter called 'the Purchaser') of the other part.

Whereas the Vendor is seized in fee simple in possession free from encumbrances of the Fee Farm Rent herinafter described and has agreed to sell the same to the Puchaser in consideration of the sum of One hundred and four pounds eight shillings and three pence. Now this Indenture witnesseth that in pursuance of the said Agreement and in consideration of the sum of One hundred and four pounds eight shillings and three pence [for the?] Vendor paid by the Purchaser (the receipt and payment whereof the Vendor [doth?] hereby admit and acknowledge) the transfer as Beneficial [...] and releases unto the Purchaser All that Fee Farm Rent of Seven pounds two shillings and five pence arising out of the Manor [of Twyning?] Manor in the County of Gloucester together with the lands held therewith and the appurtenances to the intent that the [....] now charged and be no loger payable. It is hereby certified that the transaction hereby effected does not form part of a larger transaction or of a series of transactions [...] which the amount or value or the aggregate amount [...] of the consideration exceeds Five hundred pounds.
