Randall Thomas by Divine Providence Archbishop of Canterbury, Primate of all England and Metropolitan, by Authority of Parliament lawfully empowered for the purpose herein written:- To our beloved in Christ Maxwell Homfray Smith Clerk Master of Arts, Health and Grace.

Whereas it appears by the Certificate under the hand of the Right Reverend Father in God George Forrest by Divine Permission Lord Bishop of Bristol made and transmitted to Us, in pursuance of an Act of Parliament passed in the First and Second Years of the Reign of Her late Majesty, Queen Victoria, intituled "An Act to abridge the holding of Benefices in Plurality, and to make better Provision for the Residence of the Clergy," and also an Act passed in the Thirteenth and Fourteenth Years of the said Reign, intituled "An Act to amend the Law relating to the holding of Benefices in Plurality," and also an act passed in the Forty-eighth and Forty-ninth years of the said Reign, intituled "An Act to amend the law relating to Puralities," that the Annual Value of the Vicarage of Chippenham with Tytherton Lucas in the county of Wilts and within his Diocese, is Three hundred ans thirty pounds six shillings and six pence

And the Annual Value of the rectory of Hardenhuish in the County and Diocese aforesaid is One hundred and six pounds six shillings and two pence

And whereas it also appears by the said Certificate that the distance of the Churches of the said two Benefices from each other is one statute mile and a half We therefore being moved by your supplications in this behalf, and satisfied, as well of your fitness as of the expediency of allowing such two Benefices to be holden together, do by virtue and in pursuance of the power in Us vested by the said Acts, graciously grant to you by these presents Our Licence or Dispensation that you may freely and lawfully hold together as long as you shall live the said Vicarage of Chippenham with Tytherton Lucas and the said rectory of Hardenhuish.

Given under the seal of Our Office of Faculties at Doctors Commons this Twenty Ninth day of May in the Year of Our Lord One Thousand Nine Hundred and Eight and in the Sixth Year of our Translation.
