My Lord Bishop,

I am writing to let you know that the King has been pleased to approve your appointment to the new Suffragan See of Dunwich. I have so informed the Bishop of St. Edmundsbury and Ipswich.

As regards the date for the announcement of your appointment, I would propose to give the notice to the press next Tuesday evening to appear in the newspapers on the following day. If you prefer an earlier or a later date, perhaps you would be kind enough to let me know.

I am writing to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 21st August. I am writing to the Home Office to-day on the Prime Minister's behalf, requesting that they should take the necessary steps to put into effect the King's approval of your appointment as Bishop Suffragan of Dunwich.
