| Edmond Gumbleton was a son of John Gumbleton of Britford, Wiltshire, and his wife Jone, nee Cox. He was baptised, at Britford, 15 Jan 1614/15.
In 1641, all men were expected to take an oath of loyalty to the King and the Protestant religion. The lists of men who did so are known as the "Protestation Returns", and they included Edmond Gumbleton of Britford. In 1646, he was married to Dorothy Furs at Britford. They had 5 children between 1647 and 1654. In 1647, he was mentioned in the will of his father, John Gumbleton and, in 1652, in the will of his mother, Jone.
