| Dorothy (or Dorithie) Gumbleton (or Gumleton) was a daughter of John Gumbleton and Jone, nee Cox, of Britford, Wiltshire. She was baptised on 4 Jan 1623, at Britford. In 1647, her father John, died and left her £30 in his will. She was also mentioned in her mother’s will of 1652, which names her as the wife of Thomas Gillow, so she must have married by this date, although the record has not been found.
She had at least two children: William Gillow and Thomas Gillow, who are mentioned by name in the will of Dorothy’s brother, Edmund, who died in 1660. The same two sons also each received a small bequest from the will of Dorothy’s other brother, John, an innkeeper of Salisbury, who died in 1671. | ||
