Newspapers and journals: Obituary of Gerard A Gumbleton, 2015

Gerard A. Gumbleton, who dedicated his life to serving others, was called to join his father/mother God on Friday, January 30, 2015 under the loving care of the Carmelite Sisters at Santa Teresita Hospital in Duarte, Calif. He was 82. One of his labors of love upon retirement was his backyard garden filled with fruit trees and his favorites: his tomatoes and blueberries, which he generously shared with neighbors and friends. He also enjoyed taking regular walks around his neighborhood. It was on his last walk a week prior that he initially fell causing a brain hemorrhage.

Jerry is one of nine siblings born in Detroit, MI to parents Alphonsus Leo and Elizabeth Ann. He is survived by his wife, Regina Abell, and brothers Michael of Alaska, Joseph of Michigan, and Robert who splits his time between Spain and Michigan. In 2011, he was honored with affiliation to the Order of Friars Minor for his ongoing commitment to working with the poor through St. Francis Center, living the Gospel, and serving others in the spirit of St. Francis of Assisi.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 5, 2015 at 10 a.m. at Holy Family Church, 1527 Fremont Avenue, South Pasadena, CA 91030. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in Gerard A.
