William Gumbleton was a son of William Gumbleton and Elizabeth, nee Dell, his wife. He was born on 2 Oct 1764 and baptised on 16 Oct 1764 at St Luke’s, Old St, London.

William married Elizabeth Swinnerton, although the record of the marriage has not been found. They had ten children.

He was admitted to the Worshipful Company of Clothworkers and thereby gained the freedoms of a Citizen of the City of London. In 1793 he is recorded as taking on an indentured apprentice.

Land Tax records from 1814 to 1827 record a William Gumbleton at 15 Essex St, Hackney, Middlesex. This is assumed to be the present William Gumbleton.

He died, aged 70, in 1834 and was buried on 29 Jun 1834 at St Alban ‘s, Wood St, London. His abode was given as No 1, Lambs College, Monkwell St.
