| She was the first child of John Gumbleton and Eliza nee Dunford. She was born in 1841 in the Newington district and baptised at St Peter, Walworth, on 3rd Dec 1843. In 1867 she married Frederick John Smith in the St George Southwark district (the actual marriage record has not yet been found in any of the parish registers). In 1871, the Smiths were living in Wellington Terrace, St James St, Croydon, where Frederick was a tea dealer. By then, they had three sons: Fred H, Ernest H and Wilson, aged 2, 1 and 7(?) months respectively. | ||
