| Florence Mary GUMBLETON was a daughter of John GUMBLETON and his wife Charlotte Jane (nee CAPE).
She was born in 1871 in the Brentford registration district, Middlesex, England and was baptised 23 Jul 1871 in Hanwell, Middlesex. A few months earlier, in the 1871 census, the family were living at 9, Heath Cottages, High St, Hanwell, Middlesex, and John was a "stoker at the asylum". This was presumably the Hanwell Insane Asylum, which was the first purpose-built public asylum in England and Wales (opened in 1831).
In 1881 the family were still at 9 Heath Cottages, Boston Road, Hanwell, and John was now an engine driver. At this time, Florence was a scholar. Florence has not been found in the 1891 census, but in 1901 she was working as a bookkeeper and was living in a lodging house at 4 Kensington Pl, High Street, Kensington, Middlesex. On 1 Dec 1904 she was married, in Kensington, to Ernest HUNT, a ventilation engineer. Nothing further is known about her life. | ||
