Elizabeth GUMBLETON was a daughter of John Thomas GUMBLETON and Martha (formerly Simons). She was born on 14 Jan 1887 at 59, Church Street, Runcorn, Cheshire.

In 1891, she was aged 4 and was living with her parents in Runcorn. In 1901, she was with her parents at 40, Newnham Road, Bedford.

She and her sister Janet were hosiery manufacturers in Bedford, appearing in a directory in 1910. At the time of the 1911 census, she was at 107 West Green Road, Tottenham, Edmonton, London N, in the household of William Henry Hewlett, a medical practitioner.

In 1915, she and Janet were granted a patent for a 'new improved leg covering' - a type of knitted gaiter.

She died 6 Oct 1921 in Corfe Castle Dorset, where she was buried on 10 Oct. Her will left everything to her sister Janet.
