|Richard Joseph Gumbleton was a son of Richard Gumbleton of Castle Richard and his wife Anne Crook, nee Warren.
In 1743 he married Elizabeth Conner, daughter of Daniel Conner of Bandon, co. Cork. The Conner family settled a substantial sum on Elizabeth as a dowry. Richard Joseph and Elizabeth had 12 children.
In 1753, he seems to have acqured some more lands, in Ballynaspeck.
In 1772, Richard Joseph was High Sheriff of County Waterford.
In 1774, he was listed among the tenants of the Duke of Devonshire in Tallow who were supporters of the Duke.
He inherited Castle Richard from his father.
He died in 1776 and his will was proved the same year.
